After the summer of 2024, Garage Rotterdam launches their project Spoiler. Spoiler is an opportunity for (young) curators to design the bookcase in the front space of Garage Rotterdam with artist publications, thereby serving as a ‘spoiler’ for the exhibition on show in the main space of Garage Rotterdam.
Spoiler will be part of two exhibitions in 2024 and 2025. For every exhibition, one chosen curator (or one duo/group) will be invited to design the dynamic layout of the front space of Garage Rotterdam with artist publications – creating a dialogue to be explored together with the main exhibition on show. The first edition of Spoiler will take place during the exhibition warming-up by curators Reza Afisina and reinaart vanhoe, running from 13 September until 17 November 2024 (as well the project dates for Spoiler). Curators Reza Afisina and reinaart vanhoe will be the jury in the selection process for the first guest curator and invite proposals connected to the theme of their upcoming exhibition: food and ecology.
Within Spoiler, we invite the chosen guest curator to design an additional program consisting of a series of artist book events. Think of book launches, artist talks and presentations, a new podium for collaborations and exchange is being created.
Garage Rotterdam offers a fee of €1000,00 for the chosen curator. All production costs are covered and Garage Rotterdam also offers a fee for artists who will present their publication during a public event.
